About Me

Author: Marcie SnyderHi . . . and welcome to my blog!

How encouraging to know that there are many people who are growing their own vegetables because they are interested in eating healthier foods and at the same time keeping our environment cleaner.

I grew up on a farm in New Brunswick where the norm was to plant and grow large gardens. When my two daughters were 6 and 7 years old, the family moved to Ontario,Canada, and bought a property which had a 100 ft. by 67 ft. backyard. On it I had two compost bins, a backyard garden, fruit trees, shrubs, and lots of flowers. My absolute favourite flowers are lilacs, roses (tea roses, climbing roses, miniature roses, and floribundas) and climateses, so I had plenty of those.

Although I have now moved to an apartment, I continue to use my gardening skills. This time instead of composting organic material, I have a vermicomposter on the go in my apartment and use the worm compost to renew and put nutrients back into my soil. This vermicompost is every bit as good as any organic compost.

Since I have learned so much about gardening, I want to pass on this information via a series of blogs. For those who prefer to have all the information in one convenient spot, you can check the resources for ebooks.

I presently am offering one free ebook, The Complete Guide to Organic Vegetable Gardening, (an overview of the why, when, where, and how of organic vegetable gardening). Another ebook How To Create Compost In Your Backyard has easy-to-understand step-by-step explanations on the four (and more) ways you can compost in your back yard. This comprehensive ebook has all the information regarding any and all types of composting in one easy-to-read guide for only $19.95.

Hopefully between my many gardening blogs and the available resources, you will get lots of information which will help you grow lush and healthy plants and vegetables so that you, in turn, can eat healthier food and at the same time keep the environment cleaner and our soil richer.

Happy Gardening!

Daughter has a bartlet pear tree that reaped abundant HUGE fruit this year which was, unfortunately, deformed with indentations and balck ‘holes’ , etc.
We would love to reap the fruit from this tree. Had it aggressively pruned last year……….. but have no idea how to spray, when to spray, and what to use. Read your article on organic spraying….
don’t know what the problem is and don’t know if spraying for a ‘fungus’ is appropriate. ????
Please enlighten us. Hate to see all this beautiful fruit going to the hornets.
